Most Koh Larn trips start at Bali Hai Pier in South Pattaya. Choose the public ferry for the lowest cost, a shared speedboat to save time, a private charter for a family or group, or a package tour when you want transport and activities arranged together.
1. Public ferry — best value. Pattaya City's guide lists services from Bali Hai to Na Baan Pier and Tawaen Beach Pier. Na Baan is convenient for the village and onward transport to several beaches; Tawaen suits a direct beach day. The city guide lists THB 30 and roughly 30–45 minutes, but an August 2026 operating notice reported THB 40 and temporary pier changes on some sailings. Confirm the fare, departure and arrival pier at the official counter that day.
2. Shared speedboat — best for saving time. The city guide gives THB 150 per person as a reference, while current operator listings commonly show journeys of about 15–20 minutes. Price, beach and departure conditions vary; some boats leave only when enough passengers gather. Confirm the total, one-way or return status, destination beach, return time and life jacket before paying.
3. Private speedboat — useful for families and groups. A whole-boat charter can offer flexible timing and stops, but the price changes with boat size, engines, group size, waiting time and included activities. Get the operator name, total price, insurance, weather/cancellation terms and both pick-up points in writing.
4. Package tour — easiest planning. Tours may combine hotel transfers, boat travel, lunch and activities such as snorkeling. Compare actual island time, optional activities, photo or equipment fees, insurance and the return point rather than only the headline price.
Solo travelers and couples with time usually get the best value from the ferry. A shared speedboat fits a short day, a charter can suit a group of four or more, and a package helps first-time visitors. A fast boat is not necessarily more comfortable in rough water.
From Na Baan, songthaews and motorcycle taxis connect to Tawaen, Samae, Tien and Nual beaches. The city guide lists songthaews from THB 20 and motorcycle taxis from THB 40, but agree on the per-person fare before boarding. Island roads are steep, so inexperienced riders should avoid renting a motorcycle.
At Bali Hai, confirm the correct pier, destination, last return and weather cancellation at the official counter. Arrive early on weekends, wear a life jacket and do not plan a tight flight or long-distance connection after the last boat.
